“WHENEVER I CALL YOU FRIEND” by KENNY LOGGINS

Kenny Loggins is an American singer-songwriter who initially gained fame as part of the duo, LOGGINS & MESSINA, which he formed with Jim Messina (a former member of Buffalo Springfield and Poco). As a duo, they released a series of successful albums in the early 1970s, producing hits like “Your Mama Don’t Dance” and “Danny’s Song.”

In the late 1970s (and early 1980s), Kenny Loggins achieved even greater solo success. He contributed to numerous soundtracks, including “Footloose,” for which he received an Academy Award nomination for “Best Original Song”. Some of his other notable solo hits include “Danger Zone” from the “Top Gun” soundtrack and “I’m Alright” from the movie “Caddyshack.” He continued to release albums and tour throughout the following decades.

His music often blends elements of folk, rock, and pop, and he is known for his soulful voice and catchy melodies. Kenny Loggins has left a lasting impact on the soft rock genre and still remains a respected figure in the music industry.

On this very day, January 7th, 1948, he was born in Everett, Washington as Kenneth Clark Loggins, the youngest of three brothers. In celebration of his birthday, exactly 76 years ago today, I have chosen a song that was originally recorded as a duet with Stevie Nicks (and you can easily listen to it by clicking on the provided YouTube link). Released in July 1978, here’s KENNY LOGGINS, with “WHENEVER I CALL YOU FRIEND”….
