R.I.P. Duane Eddy
Duane Eddy was a legendary guitarist who was born in Corning, New York on April 26th 1938. Known for his pioneering work in instrumental rock music during the late 1950s, his distinct “twangy” guitar sound was often produced using a Gretsch 6120 guitar and a variety of different effects. His style combined elements of rockabilly, country, and blues, creating a sound that was uniquely his own. Some of his most famous tracks include “Peter Gunn”, “Because They’re Young”, “Forty Miles of Bad Road”, and today’s song choice.
Eddy’s influence on rock music was very significant, as he inspired many guitarists and bands, including The Beatles and Rolling Stones. In 1986, he won the Grammy Award for “Best Rock Instrumental” with his hit single “Peter Gunn”, and in 1994, he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Sadly, on Tuesday April 30th 2024, Duane Eddy died in Franklin, Tennessee (at 86 years of age). In memory of his passing, I have attached a link to the song he was most famous for. Released in May 1958, from the album “Have Twangy Guitar, Will Travel”, here’s the late DUANE EDDY with “REBEL ROUSER”….
