R.I.P. JOHNNY CASH

Johnny Cash (aka the “Man in Black) was an American singer, songwriter, and musician who was born in Kingsland, Arkansas on February 26th, 1932. Known for his deep, distinctive voice, he is considered as one of the most influential figures in the history of country music. Some of his most well-known songs include “I Walk the Line”, “Folsom Prison Blues”, “Man in Black”, and today’s song choice (that can be listened to by clicking on the provided link).

Having sold more than 90 million records worldwide, he is considered one of the best-selling music artists of all-time. His cross-over appeal earned him the rare honour of being inducted into the Country, Rock & Roll, and Gospel Music Halls of Fame.

On this very day, September 12th 2003, Johnny Cash died of complications from diabetes (at 71 years of age). In memory of his passing, exactly 21 years ago today, I’ve chosen a song that was written by his wife, June Carter Cash, and in 1999, was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.
