“ALL I HAVE TO DO IS DREAM” by PHIL EVERLY and the Everly Brothers

Phil Everly, born in Chicago, Illinois on January 19th 1939, was one-half of the influential rock and country duo, the Everly Brothers. Alongside his older brother Don Everly, he helped contribute to their distinctive sound, characterized by the duos’ close harmonies and skilled guitar work.

Together, they achieved significant success in the late 1950s and early 1960s with hits like “Bye Bye Love”, “Wake Up Little Susie”, and “All I Have to Do Is Dream”. Their unique blend of rock, country, and folk elements had a profound impact on the development of rock and pop music.

Phil Everly’s voice and guitar playing were integral to the duo’s sound. Their influence extended to many artists who followed them, including The Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, and The Beach Boys. Despite personal and professional challenges that led to temporary breakups, the Everly Brothers left an enduring legacy in the world of music. In 1986, the Everly Brothers were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, recognizing their significant contributions to the evolution of popular music.

On this very day, January 3rd, 2014, Phil Everly passed away at the age of 74, leaving behind a rich musical heritage.
