R.I.P. JOE SOUTH

Joe South was an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist who was born in Atlanta, Georgia on February 28th, 1940. He achieved success in the 1960s (and 1970s) with his contributions to the pop and country music genres. His two most popular songs were “Walk a Mile in My Shoes”, and today’s song choice (that can be listened to by clicking on the provided link).

In 1979, he was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, and in 2019, he was inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame & Museum.

On this very day, September 5th 2012, Joseph Alfred Souter (known professionally as Joe South) died of heart failure (at his home in Buford, Georgia). He was 72 at the time of his death. In memory of his passing, exactly 12 years ago today, I’ve chosen a song that won two Grammy Awards for “Best Contemporary Song” and “Song of the Year”. From the album, “Introspect”, here’s the late, JOE SOUTH, with “GAMES PEOPLE PLAY”….
