Del Shannon was an American musician, singer, and songwriter who was born in Coopersville, Michigan on December 30th, 1934. His music was known for its innovative use of instruments and arrangements, and his experimentation with various sounds.

His most popular hits include songs like “Hats Off to Larry”, “Hey! Little Girl”, “Little Town Flirt”, “Keep Searchin'”, and today’s song choice. In the year 1999, he was posthumously inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

On this very day, February 8th, 1990, Charles Weedon Westover (better known as Del Shannon) died by suicide, after shooting himself with a .22 caliber rifle at his home in Santa Clarita, California.
