R.I.P. FREDDIE MERCURY
Freddie Mercury was a British singer who is best remembered as lead vocalist of the rock band, Queen. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest and most charismatic frontmen in the history of music. With Mercury at the helm, Queen would go on to release a string of hits, including “Bohemian Rhapsody”, “Somebody to Love”, “Another One Bites the Dust”, and today’s song choice (that can be listened to by clicking on the provided link).
With worldwide record sales of approximately 300 million, in 2001, Queen (and Freddie Mercury) were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
On this very day, November 24th 1991, Farrok Bulsara (known professionally as Freddie Mercury) died of bronchial pneumonia (resulting from AIDS). He was 45 at the time of his death. In memory of his passing, exactly 33 years ago today, I’ve chosen an operatic-style power ballad that surged in popularity following Mercury’s death.
