R.I.P. JOHN DENVER
John Denver was an American singer and songwriter who was born in Roswell, New Mexico on December 31st, 1943. Some of his most popular singles include “Annie’s Song”, “Rocky Mountain High”, “Sunshine on My Shoulders”, “Thank God I’m a Country Boy”, and today’s song choice (that can be listened to by clicking on the provided link).
Throughout his career, he released approximately 300 songs, about 200 of which he wrote himself. In recognition of this achievement, in 1996, he was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
On this very day, October 12th 1997, Henry John Deutschendorf (known professionally as John Denver) died in a plane crash near Pacific Grove, California. He was 53 at the time of his death. In memory of his passing, exactly 27 years ago today, I’ve chosen a country-folk tune that was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame (in 1998).
