R.I.P. Tina Turner
Tina Turner (often referred to as the “Queen of Rock & Roll”) is a legendary singer and songwriter who rose to fame (in the 1960s) as lead vocalist of the Ike & Tina Turner Revue. After a tumultuous marriage to Ike Turner, she left the relationship and embarked on a solo career.
A symbol of female empowerment, her biggest solo hits include “Private Dancer”, “Better Be Good to Me”, “The Best”, and today’s song choice. Throughout her amazing career, she has earned numerous accolades, including 12 Grammy Awards and an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
On this very day, May 24th 2023, Anna Mae Bullock (known professionally as Tina Turner) died at her home in Switzerland (at 83 years of age). In memory of her passing, exactly one year ago today, I’ve chosen a song that won multiple Grammy Awards, including “Song of the Year” (in 1985).
